Field boosts mission to make net zero happen with latest appointment to improve efficiency and profitability of battery storage
Field, the UK-based renewable energy storage company, today announces the appointment of Jochen Alt in the newly-created role of CTO to lead the optimisation of its rapidly-growing storage assets.
Jochen joins from AI-driven waste management solutions provider Greyparrot.AI, where he was CTO and responsible for building the company’s computer vision waste recycling product from scratch. Prior to this he was CTO at Royal Mail, leading a team of 140 engineers. With several decades of experience in IoT, data analytics and solving complex optimisation problems, Jochen’s expertise will be invaluable to Field as it moves into its next phase of scaling renewable energy infrastructure.
In his new role at Field, Jochen will lead and grow the data and software engineering team, where he will bring to bear his extensive experience establishing, leading and scaling tech teams. He will oversee the build-out of optimisation technology that will play a key role in Field’s ambitions to overhaul the way energy assets are managed in order to maximise margins, reliability and efficiency.
The news comes off the back of a recent round of senior hires at Field and the announcement of its latest acquisition, a 20MW battery storage site in Newport, bringing its pipeline to 755MW.
Jochen Alt, incoming CTO of Field, says:
“I’m really excited to be joining a company that has such a clear purpose - to make the renewables transition happen and to deliver energy security. Technically, I find the task of optimising renewable energy extremely compelling, and I’m looking forward to being in a fast-moving environment where everyone is constantly pushing for progress. Coming in as CTO at this early stage of Field’s growth means that everything I do will be high-risk and high-reward, with the opportunity to really leave an impact on the world with the help of a brilliant team.”
